3. Ways to Get Madrid

Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a major transportation hub and can be reached easily by air, train, bus, or car. Here are some of the main ways to get there:

1. By Plane

The easiest and fastest way to reach Madrid from abroad is by plane.

  • Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) is one of Europe’s busiest airports, located about 12 kilometers from the city center.
  • It receives direct international flights from most major cities in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa.
  • From the airport, you can reach Torrejón de Ardoz by Cercanías train (Lines C1 or C10), bus, taxi or private transfer.

2. By Train

  • Spain’s high-speed train network (AVE) connects Madrid with many other Spanish cities.
  • The main train stations are Atocha (serving southern and eastern routes) and Chamartín (serving northern routes)
  • From both train stations, you can reach Torrejón de Ardóz by Cercanías train (Line C2 or Line C7, both going in the direction of Guadalajara or Alcalá de Henares).

3. By Bus

Long-distance buses are often the most economical way to reach Madrid.

  • Several companies, such as ALSA, operate regular routes connecting Madrid to other cities in Spain and even neighboring countries like Portugal and France.
  • The main bus terminal is Estación Sur de Autobuses, located near Méndez Álvaro metro station, connected with Atocha train station.

4. By Car

Driving to Madrid offers flexibility and the chance to explore the Spanish countryside.
