Welcome to the official page of the REUSE EUROMED 2026
We are delighted to welcome you to this scientific event, dedicated to water reuse in the Mediterranean and Europe. After the success of first edition of REUSE-EUROMED, celebrated in 29-31 October 2024 in Montpellier (France), now it's the time to San Fernando de Henares (Madrid, Spain).
The second edition of the conference REUSE-EUROMED will bring together researchers, water professionals, policy-makers and experts on the topic of reclaimed water (members of consultancy firms, companies, local authorities, water and wastewater state services, Irrigation Communities) for sharing feedback of these different players in the Mediterranean and Europe (in terms of success but also analysis of failures), prospects and different methodological approaches concerning the design, operationalization and evaluation of reclaimed water projects, with main focus in agricultural uses.
Co-organized by I-ReWater Interreg SUDOE consortium, the ‘Asociación Española de Riegos y Drenajes-AERYD’ & Projects and Planning research group-PROePLA (USC), the conference program includes expert presentations on reclaimed water, focusing on specific themes:
The conference is also intended to be a trade show for companies and a brockage event dedicated to connecting participants with a view to creating new opportunities for public-private partnerships and facilitating business networking.
Whether you are a member of a consultancy firm, a company, a local authority or a research laboratory, come and increase your visibility and network in Spain and abroad.
English is the official language for official proceedings, presentations, and documents of the event.
I-ReWater Interreg SUDOE is a European consortium, which we are developing several studies related with sustainable management of reclaimed water in irrigated agriculture in the SUDOE space. During the next three years (2024-2026), the main objective of the I-ReWater project will be to improve the management of water resources in agriculture, integrating the use of urban reclaimed water in agricultural crops and considering environmental aspects to ensure its good use due to the current climate crisis. The results will be the presentation of a ‘Transnational Strategy for the Use of Reclaimed Water’ and the ‘HUB of Reclaimed Water Resources in Agriculture’. The 16 partners collaborating in I-ReWater make up a multidisciplinary consortium that is complemented by the support of 39 collaborating entities. The AERYD (Asociación Española de Riegos y Drenajes) is a non-profit association aimed at promoting irrigation in Spain through collaboration between the scientific-technical, business, institutional sectors and irrigation water users. The mission of AERYD is generate ideas that strengthen and promote the irrigation sector through collaboration among its agents. In this way, the aim is to contribute to the progress and welfare of society. Main objectives: facilitate the networking among the different agents in the sector, promote the generation and dissemination of knowledge and promote the sector’s capabilities and expertise. AERYD was created in 1985 to improve information and increase the participation of Spanish irrigation experts in the ICID (International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage). PROePLA is the acronym for the Projects and Planning research group at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). This research group is involved in various projects linked to Rural Areas development, main research lines focus on Forestry and Environmental Science, with specific projects in Forest Monitoring and Carbon Sequestration, Forest Management for Carbon Sequestration, and the Continuous Forest Inventory of Galicia. Other key areas include Water and Nutrient Management for Crops, Horticulture, and Agronomy, which investigate irrigation techniques and the effects of water on crop production, such as the I-ReWater research project, which focuses on the use of reclaimed water in agriculture. Actually, PROePLA has achieved the maximum regional grant as Competitive Research Reference Group (ED431C 2025/17).
